New pool and spa barrier laws On 1 December 2019, new laws to improve swimming pool and spa safety came into effect in Victoria. Thee include new registration, inspection and certification requirements for property owners. If a Victorian residential pool or spa has a depth of 30cm or more (300mm), it is required to be surrounded by safety barrier. This includes inflatable pools.
